Britney Spears Reaches New High on Social 50 Chart


britney Spears continues her upward climb on the Social 50 chart as she rises 10-7 -- a new high for the pop diva. Chalk up her leap to a whopping 136% growth in week-over-week Vevo plays thanks to the premiere of her new video "Till the World Ends" on April 6. She also posts a 10% gain in views to her YouTube channel and a 12% jump in Facebook fans. The video for "Till" has racked up over 12 million views in a little over a week's time.

The Social 50 ranks the most active artists on the world's leading social networking sites -- YouTube, Vevo, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and iLike -- using a formula blending weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with weekly artist page views and weekly song plays.

Returning to No. 1 on the tally is Justin Bieber, who bumps Lady Gaga from the top slot, moving her down to No. 2. The rest of the top 10 is flush with familiar faces: Eminem stands still at No. 3, Shakira moves up two to No. 4, Katy Perry falls one slot to No. 5 and Akon is up one to No. 6. Lil Wayne is a non-mover at No. 8, while Michael Jackson returns to the top 10, up two slots to No. 9. Closing out the top 10 is the Black Eyed Peas, falling one rung to No. 10.

Though her video for "Friday" just passed 100 million views on YouTube, Rebecca Black continues to slide down the Social 50, as she tumbles 22-39. She was down 62% in week-over-week YouTube views, a 3% decrease in new Twitter followers and a 26% drop in Facebook fans.

New entries on the list this week include deadmau5 (No. 24), Sum41 (No. 44), Thursday (No. 48) and Armin Van Buuren (No. 49). Meanwhile, Bruno Mars, the Beatles, 30 Seconds to Mars and Justin Timberlake re-enter at Nos. 43, 45, 47 and 50, respectively.
